„Mostmár elégedett vagyok azzal, ahol tartok, de nagy utat tettem meg idáig” – exkluzív Sophie and the Giants interjú

How are you today?

I’m great. I’m so happy to be here. It’s been such a lovely time so far.

Okay. Did you get a chance to take a look around and explore the city?

Yeah. After soundcheck, Driver took us around to have a look at some stuff.

All right, so let’s start at the very beginning. When and how did you get into writing songs and making music?

Um, it was like it was very natural for me, I think when I was like a kid before I understood what, like being a songwriter and being artists was and stuff. I always used to just like write down poems and things and like, sing them to my mom and yeah, I don’t really remember a time when I wasn’t doing that. So yeah, it was kind of like since as long as I can remember ten words. Yeah, I’m really about it, like expanding my thought so too. Like, let’s write it down and like, make it into a song. It was so much easier to tell people how I felt. And yeah, that was my way of communicating.

You just released your latest single, Shut Up. And so, first of all, congratulations. Of course. Can you tell me a bit about the background of this song? Like what inspired it? And what is the message that you’re trying to get across me?

Yeah, I think the day that I was writing it, I was feeling very, very overwhelmed. I think like the world can be quite noisy sometimes and with there’s a lot of opinions and it’s like with social media, you’re constantly having stuff like shove it in your face. And I think that we forget sometimes to like do less talking and like be in touch with our feelings more and like just really feel stuff. And I think you see it a lot as well at concerts where, you know, people are on their phones or they’re not really just like standing there and like feeling the music and the things that are going on around them. So I think the the message was I was just frustrated and I wanted I wanted the world to just shut up and for us to all dance together and have a good time.

I have to ask you about paradise, because it’s such a massive hit in our country. I think it’s currently at number four on the radio charts, and I think people really connect with it. Do you have a favorite memory with that song?

I loved I loved writing that song cause I was like by the seaside in the UK in Brighton, and I was just with my friends who I write with all the time. And we just had this title which was like Paradise and like we just had to make a song that sounds like that word. And I think we did it really, really well. And it’s, it’s probably been one of my proudest creations and it really helped me, like, create this world inside my head that I could just, like, escape to. Whenever I felt like down I was just like, I’m just going to go to my, like, paradise.

Now, you’ve been in the music industry for quite some time now. What is your proudest achievement so far?

Um, before I did like a like 23 seconds on Eurovision, which was pretty fun. Um, that was like the most scared I’ve ever been in my life. I’m probably like, yeah, the biggest achievement. Like, my family bought me up on Eurovision. So and like my mum’s a huge fan of Abba and stuff. So it was like to be a part of that was really huge.

What is the biggest challenge that you had to face during this time?

Oh, like being an artist or just in life?

You know, being an artist and like your whole career.

I’m biggest challenge, I think was like lockdown. I just didn’t really it was so hard to navigate what to do anymore. And I felt like I changed a lot during that time. And then when we came out, I had to like completely adapt and like I’m so happy with where I am now, but it’s been a bit of a journey through that. So yeah, that was a tough time. Yeah.

Now you’re about to step on stage and can’t wait to see you. Do you have any pre-show riches that you always do before every concert of yours?

Like a ritual. Um, like I just, like, scream and jump around and listen to music. I got really. I have really about stage fright, so I would just try and, like, shake off my body as much as possible.

And what’s next for you? What can we expect to see from you in the near future?

Good times, fun music. I just going to write fun tunes and keep performing until I don’t enjoy it anymore. So that’s my plan. Yeah.

All right. And finally, is there a message that you would like to share with your Hungarian fans?

Um, I’m so grateful for the support. Thank you so much. Especially for the love in Paradise. And I really hope that you love this new single as well. And yeah, thank you for everything.
